Well, it's Tuesday and we need to go for a ride. So, we load up our sport quads and head for Idaho City. We park at the bottom of Pine Creek and plan a route south up Dry Creek, then swing around east to the Thorn Creek Fire Lookout, then back north and down Bannock Creek, ending up back in Pine Creek.
Here we are gearing up at the parking area:
We pop out of Dry Creek on the main FS304 to the lookout. This road is way too wide and easy, but it does make for some fancy sliding around corners. Here's the boss taking a short break:
We continue on to the top of the mountain and stop for a pottie break at Thorn Creek Butte Campground. Not a soul in the campground:
We make it to the Thorn Creek Butte Lookout, climb up on the walkway, and I start taking pictures!
Here is a look west with Idaho City in the far background. The "one holer" is much more impressive!
Looking south down the ridge. The big bald spot is where we ate lunch during the KTR Spring Campout:
Now, a shot to the north east showing were the roads intersect at the fire lookout:
Finally, the only live action shot of the day. Kathy is just finishing the Bannock Creek Trail where it merges back onto FS304:
Nice day with some dust. It had rained a little the night before.
