Since we finally got a nice cool sunny day, Kathy and I decided to head out for a day of riding at the Weiser Sand Dunes. We loaded up the sport quads, sand tires, and lots of water. The BLM has made some nice improvements, especially a real restroom. They've also gravelled the parking area and eliminated/sprayed for all the goat heads and other weed issues.

Since it had rained the night before, there was plenty of traction for our regular race setup. It wasn't until the afternoon that everything dried out and we had to mount up the sand tires, which are great at medium to high speeds, but a real pain for slow speed riding. Oh well, there's always a trade off!

First off, a very wide panorama of the dunes and Farewell State Park, along the Snake River in Oregon:

Now it's time for some slipping and sliding in between the many trails in and around the sagebrush:

Now we switch to our sand tires and head over for some hill climbing! Here is a montage of Kathy doing her thing:

Finally, we finish the day with some jumping. Since there hadn't been any wind with the last storm it was hard to find a lip steep enough to provide a good launch pad, but this one wasn't bad. Here's Kathy again hitting a decent attempt:

All-in-all it was a great day and we had the dunes to ourselves the entire time. :D
